Farewell Golden Bay, Hello Mt Cook.

Hello everyone, thanks so far to everyone who has left messages and sent emails its really nice to hear from folk back at home!
So we finally manged to leave Golden Bay it was really sad to go but hey we are out here to see a country aswell so it was off to explore the great unknown and probably do a little climbing on the way.
So after we dropped our friend Rob off at the airport we started to head down south we especially wanted to see Mt Cook.
We took a steady drive in that direction checking out a few little natural beauty spots on the way one being Lake Tekapo, we had only just camped about 10 minutes down the road from the lake so we arrived early in the morning and before we knew it it was late afternoon the lake was so amazing to sit by and chill and it wasnt that cold either which was good as we were starting to smell a bit. Another 50km's or so down the road was our next stop, HE RAY another lake, Lake Pukaki and in the distance across the vast sky like blueness of the lake Mt Cook stood there gleaming in the sunshine we were qiute honestly blown away from the view and couldnt wait get a closer view of her. We camped there for the night and had a nice fire going by the lake which we shared with a german guy called 'Chris' who is travelling around NZ on a push bike, crazy!!
The next day the weather was not to good over the other side of the lake but we decided to head out there any way and we got nothing but rain and no close up view of the mountain but we did meet up with a friend from Golden Bay, 'Cody' an american mountaineer adventurer who has climbed some pretty tough mountains and we arranged to go out and do a huge multi pitch climb with him when the weather had settled.
The next day the rain was still lingering in the air like a bad smell so we hooned out of Mt Cook national park and headed back to the lake where we camped the prevoius night to watch the weather and get some sunshine and it was there we mad friends with another pair of germans Seb and Hannes they shared a fire with us that night telling stories and laughs. They joined us the next day back to Mt cook where the weather had finally eased up and we could see her up close we did a walk which would allow us to get even closer and on the return journey of the walk we sat and watched the sunset once again on Mt cook lighting her up in bright orange and gently fade away as the sun got lower.
We got in our Multi pitch climb with Cody the next day which was a great adventure over 110m high it took us about 5 hours to complete the climb and rerturn to our vans it was the most scenic venue we have ever climbed with snow capped mountains in the background was someting very special.
So that leads us today (what ever day that is!) We are in Wanaka to check out the climbing here we have had one day so far but go rained off but its avery colourful place especially as it is now autum and the leaves are showing off there bright yellow and red colours we are camped up by a river which is crystal clear and great to swim in even though its abit cold but very refreshing.
Just one more thing to add we have invested $12 on a toastie pie maker which you can use on gas stoves so for the last few days we have had staple diet of toasty pies and we are on amission to make the perfect toastie, more details will follow in the next update along with some pics until then.
